The Lumbo-Pelvic Region – Beyond the Obvious
Why Groin, Pubalgia and Hamstring Injuries Keep Coming Back
As osteopaths, we are experts in manipulating vertebrae and joints. Very often we attribute the cause of various injuries in the lumbopelvic region – such as pubalgia and hamstring injuries – to these blockages.
For decades, this narrative has been widely accepted. Yet in clinical practice we repeatedly notice that many of these injuries keep returning or become chronic, despite technically flawless interventions.
In 2026, with the insights we now have, we owe it to ourselves to stop viewing these injuries as isolated local problems. It is time to look further and map the bigger picture.
This workshop offers osteopaths who feel stuck with persistent groin and pelvic complaints a comprehensive and modern clinical framework that helps explain why symptoms keep recurring.
You will first learn how to perform targeted clinical testing of the adductors, the iliopsoas and other key structures in the groin and pelvic region. From there, you will systematically search for the underlying cause.
This underlying issue may be situated at different levels, such as:
- reduced load tolerance of bone structures
- connective tissue or wound-healing problems
- altered control originating from the brain or the temporomandibular joint
You will learn to recognize patterns of pelvic injuries, test them clinically, and integrate them into the treatments you are already applying in your daily practice.
